    I can see the demons

Now - This is not a time of year I particularly like. But this year is proving to be a challenge for my "mind". I can usually distract myself "planning" or "modifying" - but not even retail therapy motivates me. And depression really scares me - been there, and do not wish to return.

For obvious reasons all "trips" have been curtailed this year. I'd planned to go to India as well as the UK. But I find myself unable to plan anything as not even divination or blind guessing shows a path. Antici............................................ .......pation has changed to simple Aceptance. I find myself clinging to work for entertainment - but really it does not - it merely occupies. And it's all getting very tiring.

Knowing the signs allows me to see the way. I have started drink way more beer than before - so decided yesterday to stop for a while. It's probably a good thing that I have problems obtaining my favorite rum. I have one last bottle in the emergency lockup. But if I get snarly, you'll know why.

The inability to even plan a short ride to see a mate here is converting me into an armchair rider. I can't "do" the "go out for a ride" thing. Never could. I need an objective, albeit contrived. And simply there is no fun in going anywhere if the first thing you have to do is wear a ruddy mask.

I just needed to vent the frustration - Nothing to see here - move along.

You stopped yesterday, for a while??? Have you resumed today??๐Ÿ˜ƒ I hear you. Work is slow, no social life, curling club closed: nothing much to do but eat and drink. Not even in the mood for smart assed retorts on the forum. Very glad I am not now 25 and going through this mess.

Th Missus suggested I finish off this silly old six-pack so I can concentrate on prohibition.

Iโ€™m finding things to do. Went shopping today for a TV and a living room suit, spent shit loads of money, that felt good!๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜…

Going deer hunting in the morning. The woods are always peaceful even if the deer donโ€™t show up. After Iโ€™m done hunting Iโ€™ll sit on the porch at the cabin and smoke a pipe and have a beverage.

Do do your best to find a constructive hobby. Spend a little time outdoors.

Oddly - we also bought a new TV. I assume you mean a living room suite. Or have you taken to wearing a Gentlemanly Smoking Jacket - we make a Englishman of you yet :-) - Today's Fox!

Only work four days a week. I do have some garments that I use as smoking jackets but nothing fancy.

4 days - but that means only a 3 day weekend.

Dentists are like plumbers, Lupe, they can work a couple days and live off the money for months.

Not if you spend like I do.

Saw this in a local forum and thought I'd post it here.
Can you get out for some motorcycle therapy - it is for your health.

      So...I'd never been to Spain
But I kinda like the twisties
Say the riders are insane there
And they sure know how to ride there
(My license) I'm gonna abuse it
      Hope I don't lose it
      I can't refuse it.

        Grey beard, My Amigo,
I just came across this thread and you have got me a little worried.
Christmas is a difficult time for many people. When I was a copper, there were more assaults, domestics, suicides, and homicides than at any other time of the year.

Please do your best to not let the quicksand of depression overtake.
We are all fighting this shit to some degree and for sone tis a critical battle.

We understand how tough an obstacle this must be for you. You are so awesome and courageous to share this with us.
        My thoughts are with you.
        I love ya, man!

Its tough on everyone. I've been in Louisiana for going on 4 months now. I'm tired but thankful I have a job.

I think that is the key right now. Don't focus on what you don't have or can't do. Focus on what you have and can do. There are many who would gladly trade with any of us.

Mate - I learned that simply saying it out loud is as good as anything. Knowing where you can say it - now that is important.
This may be the sanctuary for Terse Grumpy Old Bastards. But it's where I know I can scream without some twit telling me I need a wheatgerm enema.

I got depressed at Christmas all my life, no idea why, my mother told me she did too. Last 2 years have been okay , first time in my life, no idea why I did or why I don't now.

To become a true Grumpy Old Bastard involves a lot of training. Fortunately, you have enough time left to turn practise into perfection!

You have many reasons to be grumpy, my friend -
But you are in fact, quite the opposite!

Thank you Steve and Merry Christmas to you and yours. You know Dan called a couple of months ago to check on me, I sure like him, hell of a guy, Iโ€™m fine, been working a job outside of Nashville and living in a motel room, itโ€™s been taking a lot of attention so time here has been limited. Something about this area, Iโ€™ve had a strange interest in Barbies since Iโ€™ve been here and Iโ€™m thinking about painting the bike pink... wondering if it might be something in the water.
                  Working...
