I remember when a barrel of oil was worthless but gas at the pump was still high

I remember being a young child in Springfield Mo. I was staying with my rich Aunt. I remember seeing a sign that said "Gas War" on two gas station signs. My Aunt explained what it was and that the two gas stations on both sides of the street were involved. It was 26 cents. I don't know why I recall that but I do. That and her great piano playing with her extremely bad voice. it was like Aunt Bee. My ears still hurt. šŸŽ¹ šŸ‘©ā€šŸŽ¤šŸŽ¤šŸ˜

Lowest I remember is 89 cents when i first started driving. Even that seems like a million years ago

When I started driving (1962) gas was $.25/ gallon.
As a teener twas not uncommon to pull in and ask for $.50 worth, or a dollar if we were loaded (no self service).

When I started driving (1921) gas was $.02/ gallon. There, fixed it for ya!

I remember pulling both my go-kart and mini bike up to the pump at a local Gulf station seeing prices between .26-.29 cents a gallon.
