I have power. Lots of sleet and snow. All melted out today. Cool and dry now. 22F right now. Power loss is focal. Frozen lines swing in the wind and short out.
Dependent? NO? They are up just to appease the hippies in Austin. Since Texas has its own power grid and the temps right now are lower than ave temp in Alaska, they are performing rolling blackouts but only last a couple to a few hours. No big deal.
its -2 in Tyler right now
Well I guess bull had some info that I wasn’t aware of with his first post.
I wasn’t aware of the turbine wind energy blades freezing up and causing so much loss of energy. I don’t live in the area that most of these wind energy devices are deployed and didn’t realize they were so dependent on these for real energy. I always thought them to be just back up, or additional energy.
So the Texas grid is not set up for this kind of extreme cold & looks like our leaders were caught by surprise! Our governor vows to have this straightened out and improve abilities to handle these types of events.
Hopefully this can serve as a wake up call for those in leadership
good catch Steve

We lost water for a couple of days so I’ve been filling five gallon buckets of snow and keeping them in the bathtub to melt for water for flushing the toilets
Texas dependant on fuckin' windmills?
Texas, with their own power grid, has lost power?
People have died?
WTF? Say it ain't so . . .
My daughter said it best. “This is like starving to death while your in the grocery store”
Texas is OIL!
Oil is energy.
And you folks bet on fucking windmills. While your sitting on an ocean of black gold. Pitiful just pitiful
I don’t know about the wind energy thing. None around here. I believe they are all out west and up north into the panhandle where it’s all flat open land. My guess is they mostly provide energy for that area but I don’t know.
I do know that Gov Abbott is pissed about it and is going to make large changes.
I think part of having these windies is to appease to fed govt and I’m sure some $$$$$ is exchanged.
All of this shit was put into place before Abbott became governor.
Here in Oklahoma NONE of the wind power stays in Oklahoma! It all goes to Georgia and Alabama. We have enough wind mills with in 20 miles of me to power all of northwest Oklahoma
My neighbor of mine told me it was on the north side of Downers Grove... I live on this all thankfully, he also said someone put a red jacket on it and a beanie..... 😂
