    Bollocks - Fell Off - 0kmh.

Not a big off, I was barely moving. Actually it was not even moving by the time it fell.

The KTM is pretty much unscathed - Scuffed the left Bar End, Scuffed Left lever (it's a chinese shorty), Scuffed Footrest slight mark in the tank protection plastic. The cheepo LED spot mounts took most of the force. The spot is oddly unscathed.

I came down on my back and left hip - Hip is a bit sore. My head did hit the ground with a clean whack - the helmet is toast. My nice lightweight Carbon one too. From the Jacket and pants you'd never know. Not even a scuff. Yes armoured.

TBH I am not really sure why - Either it stalled or I did - pretty full lock and I lost my footing.

Had it been the R3 - It would have probably been way worse - Just the weight.

Sooner or later we all do it. My not moving off was the R3 falling over on me in the garage. I thought the kickstand was down. Glad there was no audience for that one! Several times almost fell over at the toll booth because my shoelace was caught in the peg! Glad you and your bike are OK. We should start a thread called "My silly little motorcycle mishaps" or some such.

Not sure that's a plus mate - ATGATT is not really something we do off the bike. Well not usually.
This getting old lark is a pain in the backside.

I've ordered another the same - it's a lovely light lid.

                  Goggles?

Yup - I wear Bertoni F113 goggles in summer and Ethen "Scrambler" goggles if it gets a bit chilly. Both have photochromatic lenses. The R3 has zero turbulence behind the screen - can wear it in deep winter on the R3. And Granny Guzzi. On the KTM it keeps me legal-ish as teh peak starts to catch air at about 75-80mph. My other lid is a Nexx XD1 - Dual Sport.

I was for a while VERY interested in getting a RuRoc Berserker helmet because they have quick swap goggle lenses. But they are (for a carbon lid) heavy. I fog up normal visors really fast even in summer. Pinlock inserts a must. My nose clogs and I end up mouth breathing. Not an issue with Goggles. Pinlock etc is all added weight.

It's just the gel coat. Carbon is tough. Make up a story to tell and wear it. That's a nice lid.

It was a hell of a whack. There is actually some delamination. This is in fact the BIG issue with CF. It is excellent for monster crushing type thumps - but Short Sharp shocks are better handle by polycarb lids. I've already ordered a new one. Not worth the risk. It is VERY light - 980g - goat leather trimmed - MIPS type inner. It's as close to an open as you can get without losing genuine full face protection. If you can find them close to you, at least go and have a look, Really. But the Bell would be my next choice.

I wised up after my brother's skull was pierced by his foot peg after a high-side crash.
I got a free one from Bell when mine saved my life in a 110 mph crash.
                  Just sayin' . . .

I used to ride bald or with fake DOT lids until I started to look at youtube bike crashes. The skull is very fragile. Bones heal, skin heals very slow but the brain gets damaged permanently. Used to ride half helmet. No more. Scott in Exile made a strong point of wearing PPE every time. Cheat often and wear regular jeans. Here in Texas Harley riders are almost all wearing lids. Some boozes still ride with shots and flip-plops. Ohhh well...To each their own.

I ride ATGATT always. Some of it might not be "rated" but because it predates ratings. I ride pretty much all year (except snow/ice) - not always very far, but geared up. I won't totally avoid riding just because it's wet, but if the trip is not necessary and it's raining then I don't.

Helmets and full finger gloves are a legal requirement here - Both should be CE rated, though the cops are flexible if you're wearing good old gloves. They are looking at up-speccing the minimums. And this means CE ratings almost certainly. There was talk of airbag vests, but that's been withdrawn due to cost and lack of certification.

I have at least 5 Jackets - some leather some not. Some "armoured" some just old fashioned lots of dead cow. Pants too. Ditto Gloves. The most difficult is good HOT weather gear.

Oh - I'm just rambling - I've no real point to make. 1K9 - Look at the Resurgence jeans (Canada). Fully lined with a mix of Kevlar and Dyneema. And pads. I ride almost all the time now in their Combat pants. Comfy, don't itch and not overly warm. They are HEAVY. I use braces.

I try and ATGATT most of the time. When I say most its when the heat index is 110 I usually won't wear a jacket but a full face helmet, gloves, jeans and boots always. I usually don't ride for most of the summer due to the oppressive heat in southwest Florida but for an occasional ride. Gonna look into those jeans Chris...thanks!
