    Another unicorn

I ran across an irresistible deal on this sweet little KTM 1290 Super Duke GT. It's a 2017 with only 1087 miles on it. It hasn't even had first service yet. I'll freshen it up a bit and put a few more miles on it. Yee f'ing haw!!!

Dang newfangled Rocket is still in the shop. Ya snooze, ya lose.

It's like football. You get injured and are off the grid there is always someone (or some motorcycle) to take your/it's place. I have a month warranty left on my Rocket. Tomorrow it's going to be cold but I'm going to run my Rocket like I borrowed it (without asking) and take it to task. If it lives tomorrow I should be good for a while with the warranty out. The rear brake will be used just to make sure it doesn't fade when it heats up like before. I normally barely touch it but I have to find out if it will fade with some use. Just a warning to get your kids and the elderly off the streets and possibly the sidewalks. I'm coming through!

You have rear brake fade issues with your new 2.5 Triumph??
I have fuck this issue on both my rocket roadsters since they were new. Tried everything I could think about, spent a lot of money on ABS bleed software. Ceramic pads seem to help a tad but they still eventually faded. I even moved the rear brake fluid container outboard an inch to mitigate heat from the engine and headers. Nothing has worked so what finally cured the problem was I disconnected the rear ABS fuse. No
      more issues, no more death-defying
Lack of rear brakes hooning into twisties.

They have bled it twice or at least they said they did. Once before I bought it I asked about it and they said they bled the rear brake. After I don't know 2K I had rear brake fade out doing some spirited riding in the backroads in 95 degree heat. The Rocket was as hot as hell and the brakes that I barely feather by the way went to the ground. The dealer fixed it under warranty and haven't had the problem since. So much for thrashing it today as I have the fu**ing flu. Oh well, it's cold today anyway, around 37 degrees. That's 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Must be global warming.🙂

I don't have it registered or inspected yet so not on the road, but I do have a long gravel driveway. I flushed the brakes and clutch out with new DOT 4 today and made a few rips up and down the driveway. Man, I'm gonna like this thing.

Installed a set of AfterMokit handlebar risers this morning, an inch up and an inch back. I like how they sit down in the stock handlebar riser saddle where they won't turn. Had plenty of slack in the cables, hoses, and wiring looms. They gave me a pretty relaxed riding position removing weight from arms.

Warm enough today to get the KTM out for a little ride since the broke down Triumph is at the service morgue.

That's about how easy it is. Pretty much a wheelie in 2nd and 3rd if you want. You have to be careful on curves and not lift the front wheel.

Another great day in the mid 70's. I didn't even need gloves.

I always wear gloves. Under ware is optional but if I don't wear them I'm leaning off balance. The older I get the more of a pussy I am. I wear protective gear but stop short of a Power Ranger. People that don't wear it are fine by me because I'm probably the weird one anyway. To each his own and have fun no matter what you wear.👍I use to wear Tank tops if riding in the hood or around town. I don't look like I did 30 years ago so that's out of the question. If I did I probably would.

My hands are usually so scratched up it's nice to not wear gloves when they are not needed. Oh look, another load of hay to unload. Get back to work cowboy.

I'm loving the 6.1 gallon fuel tank and being able to ride for hours without splashing gasoline in my face every 125 miles.

Happy new year 2023. covid year 3 or 4 I tend to forget. A bit windy but nice and warm today. Took the scenic loop around Lake Fork in Texas. It is still about four feet low so no water going over the dam, damn. The wind was something right out of the south across some of the bridges. Out over open water you could feel the temperature drop like you were in a walk in freezer. brrr, glad I wore the fingerless gloves and a jacket. And didn't even need to stop for gas. Sweet.
