    Moto Guzzi Stada

God bless Guzzi Dan, he surprised me today, dropped off a bike for me to ride while I'm home, all my bikes are in Florida now. Supposedly pretty rare in America, Dan said only 38 imported. 1993

My dad loved his guzzis. Had a 63 (?) Eldorado and a bilabio (sp?)

It could not get any uglier could it? I guess it’s something to ride but I’d hope nobody recognized me on it.🤣

Odd bike, Dan said the front brake only operates the left front caliper, the rear brake operates the front right and rear calipers. Also two chokes you have to pull, one on each side for each carburetor

Why are you trying to make sense out of italian engineering?

Not odd at all. Guzzi's linked brake system is really effective - but nobody seems to like it - I happen to love it. The Carb thing is not original.

In the interest of diplomacy, all I can say is it looks way better than it rides. I can't imagine anyone paying actual money to own this. Like his 84 California that I rode once, the condition and ride suggest it was once chained to a pickup and dragged through the woods.

Oh Lord if the look is bad and the ride worse?

The 1993 Strada (there should be an r in there) was - imo as a long time Guzzi owner - one of several Guzzis in the early 90's that were "pants". Aestetically poor and with one or two really poor technology "attempts". They lost their way for a bit. They were still a very old fashioned block that really needs old fashioned care.

Funny, I had the r in there, and edited it out because the paint is so faded I couldn't see the r on the bike.

The V85TT is a really good bike. If you do not plan to take it off-road - then put full road rubber on. If you plan to do some off-road - leave it as it is. Pay the extra and get the "Travel" version. Here it definitely works out cheaper than buying a bike and adding the bits. I don't like the Travel colour much though, I admit.

All Guzzis achieve something remarkable. With less "power" than most of their competitors - but --------

I am torn between the GUZZIV85TT and KTM890ADV.

This is a 1979 Guzzi V1000-G5. Bike made for the US market. Some light engine mods - for unleaded fuel and higher altitudes etc.

Even today - in tight alpine bend conditions it will see off many more modern bikes. Pick a speed - and just use the flywheel. Yes it has linked brakes.

I had to ride it home in the dark last night, the headlights only shine 20', I couldn't find the high beams in the dark.

20' is better than zero feet and actually a safe distance (if traveling at 03 mph)

I like Moto Guzzi's. After selling the 05 Rocket I came very close to buying the Griso but bought the 14 Rocket instead. I test rode the Griso and liked the engine but I was bent over much too far and it felt awkward. The looks were a thing of beauty.

Back in 1998 I really wanted a Guzzi Centauro - but you needed the body of a Gibbon to sit on it. Shame as that motor was serious good. Belt driven overhead cams - 4 valve heads.

This was the only other bike i considered prior to buying the rocket. In the end i fit better on the rocket and theres no contest on the power. Click image for larger version

I could see a certain dentist cruising on it.

Another beautiful bike. This is another that if it had more HP and TQ I would be all in. The lines and retro look really appeal to me. So friggin clean.
