The parties don't seem too concerned who knows how crooked they are anymore. The have set up the laws where they can get away with various crimes that you and I can't. The Republican base has certainly shifted, and we can see the wreckage of party leadership in the shift's wake. Remember John Boehner? Kevin McCarthy,Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, all three touted as the Young Guns of conservatism in 2010, only one of whom remains at the embarrassing sacking of Speaker McCarthy. Those four all failed to evolve with the party, they're playing the old game, but it's Trump's party now. And that reflects the Republican base.
