I have to say, I never bought any of that shit. The crap you read in the media and stuff is not typical. My daughters are 31 and 32, they got part time jobs at 15 and 16, they've been continuously employed ever since, right through high school and college. And I know lots of their friends, all good people. If you watch Fox or CNN, you are getting a distorted picture of the world,all they care about is viewership. They pick a demographic and spiel to them whatever they want to hear, the news is not reality.
What precipitated this was a great conversation with a friend of my buddy's nephew, around 40, good man, he gets it. Best part is he told me his dad told him that 2016 was the first time in his life he didn't vote, I said tell your dad he isn't the lone ranger, me too, I understand completely.
People been saying " this generation is going downhill" for 2000 years, probably more, but somehow we seem to have made a bit of progress, haven't we? TV and the internet are not reality, think for yourself. LOL, 400 BC, you don't think we've made progress since then?

The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.

Its all on how you raise them just like dogs have seen mean ass pit bulls,out of same litter have seen pit bulls where babies ,kids climb all over them pulling their ears biting them they just lay there but start hurting one of those kids you better be ready to be eaten.Me I remember my grandpa ,grandma saying how rough they had it when they were growing up,also remember my uncles an dad saying the same thing ,now Im telling my grandson the same thing ;how much rougher we had it than what hes got it now.Frog(grandkid)wants a new XBOX been saving his money since last christmas when he didnt get what he wanted (he has $275 now)sure me and grandma might give him more than what we would have gotten but he asked for chores to make extra money and he saved it all HIMSELF from chores,birthday presents etc. At being now 9 years old he has more manners ,respect for people than most grownups do when was the last time you seen a 9year old go rushing to open the door at the store for someone,or give their seat up for an elderly lady (aint bragging )but Andre does.,tablet instead of excercise okay you got that right,respect elders when grandma says hes on it now because ladies of the house RULE he knows that and lives that,ladies and little kids(smaller than him,and special needs )go before him weather its in an ice cream line or playing a game he insists on that even to his friends I have seen it(thats how he was taught)I agree there is more bad in the world but one good deed does way more than any bad (except at work)I give any one common respect after that you EARN it.that being said way to many kids with no two parents in their life or lack of role models in their life to bring them up "decent"with out having a way rough life yep I agree

I deeply appreciate the sentiment of this post, Tripps. Being criticized for being born in a particular time period has been a frustration for me pretty regularly in the last few years, and it's good to read that some of the people of the advanced generations don't express the blind distaste for us younger folks. I grew up idolizing my elders, and it's difficult not to lash out with criticism in response to being told that I'm "just another damn millennial" when I've not done anything that (in my fairly conservative opinion) should bring me under fire.

After all, it was your generation that taught me not to subscribe to any labeled movement, not to be controlled by what others thought, not to align myself with what someone else thought was right, and to instead form my own opinions based on what I knew of right and wrong. I've never found myself in a situation where I struggled with knowing the difference between right and wrong when I had a moment to consider the relevant perspectives, and I can thank your age group for the ability to do that.

I can tell you that from what I've observed in my few years is that more often than not, people are not evil. I am a subscriber to Hanlon's Razor in that respect; I think it affords me a lot of peace of mind in situations that could make other people feel very ostracized when their beliefs are tested.

I enjoyed reading your post and I wish I was like you in that people are not evil. Because of my 30 year job I believe 'most' people are not evil but a huge number are self absorbed, in it for themselves, assholes.I'm dead serious when I say that and I believe a good number are selfish, zero morals and back stabbing. I know it's not a good way to go through life with that mind set but recent events in the United states have pretty much validated my opinions and points. A very large section of society doesn't give a rats ass about anything except themselves. Oh well, back to my cave.I wish I had a little of your piece of mind and I mean that sincerely. What a good young man! Obviously raised right. Kudos to you’re parents but most of all to you, because no matter how well raised a young un is, they have their own volition to make their own choices, given to you by The Almighty.
And you’re right, not all should be lumped into one catagory, both of my kids 37 & 31, did not fall into the trappings of the hoi polloi of these times.
