    Winter Gloves - UK/EU/Scandinavia

I am looking for some feedback.

I am looking for some long cuff Winter Gloves. Winter is NOT my favorite season, and tbh I will not usually ride in the wet. But on longer trips (like to the UK) this is sometimes unavoidable. I will always do distance with Barkbuster BBZ "muffs" fitted - But 5 hours at 140kph in the rain - dampens and chills even so. I will NOT be riding in SNOW or extreme cold. I do not do ice any more.

Over the years (like most of us) I have tried/owned many sets of gloves. I do not like heated grips/gloves, tried them.

These days I find that one marque's offerings fit, well, like gloves. That marque is Halvarssons (Sweden). I was about to splash out on a pair of their "Splitz" gloves but as Halvarssons are currently not represented in Spain I decided to have a look and see what else I could see.

And I stumbled across an interesting glove from Rukka (Finland). Rukka have been the dogs wotsits as long as I can remember. It has a double cuff - Here it is called the FROSTO - in the UK seems to be called the Feinnes. Also seems to be much cheaper here than the UK. And a current price cut from Motocard means they are the same price as the Halvarssons coming from UK. Also I have to be honest - until we see how BREXIT affects purchasing and warranty - I'm trying to buy as local as poss.

My question is simple - Has anybody any feedback on the fit of Rukka Gloves, please?. Esp if you have also ridden with Halvarssons.

I do have some winter gloves - but they are the under-sleeve type and I want some over-sleeve "Gauntlet" protection. There are pros and cons to both. And also the ones I have are BULKY.

The Rukka gives a 2 for 1 solution. But I have no way to try before I buy.

    Yours hopefully.

Got to have long gauntlets. My only contribution is that snowmobile gloves are more likely to fit the bill than motorcycle gloves, I have some good ones but unsure of the brand, they're not here

Interesting - Both the Scandinavian marques offer Snowmobile gloves too. They are undoubtedly warm. My wonder is whether they are in fact as waterproof as gloves made for wet. And whether they offer the same "oops" protection as bike gloves.

I speak from TOTAL inexperience of Snowmobiles. I hope (tbh) I never have to learn.

      These are the Rukka

The longer inner cuff goes up inside the out jacket sleeve and the other cuff goes over the sleeve.

      And these the Halvarssons

          Just ordered the Rukka

Having them delivered to the local branch of MotoCard so I can try and if necessary change size.

Actually more because there is an unbelievably pretty sales assistant there - Me? a lech? - Oh yes!.

Rukka? You guys have Doc D kind of money. Poor people like me use old worn out socks for winter gloves. Not efficient and quite smelly.😁

Someone page me? Money bags here.🤣 I ended up buy some heated gloves but the batteries don’t last very long on high and on low you can’t feel much. They are pretty warm without the electric on however. Made by Savior at $129 a pair.

That's not what he meant my friend. Doc D has so much money he actually has a Pageboy on staff to announce his entering and exiting locations.

One could always plug in a hot water system to the engine coolant.
I mean if you really wanted too.

Just collected the Rukkas - Need some cold weather now

I rarely wish for cold weather to ride in.

Hell I'm not going to ride in it. Just walk about a bit.

OK - Found two tiny issues.

                          1) Getting the first glove on is a cinch - getting the other one on with a gloved hand - is more cumbersome. May rivet a couple of loops on.
                          2) The gloves have an "Outlast" liner. You need to keep the gloves somewhere warm(ish) before slipping them on (in winter) and somewhere cool(ish) if expecting warmer temps. It's a function of "Outlast". I suppose I will now have to do an OCD search to find out EXACTLY why. I hate being provided "dumbed down" reasons.

But they are really comfy. Once they hit body temp they simply maintain it all constant.
