    That old "Helmet" chestnut!

What with COVID and prevailing weather - This years' hol's are proving to be of scant use.
But FINALLY managed to get out for a browse around a "new" shop.

    Whereupon I did spy this

Amazingly light weight - Just under 1KG. Lighter than some JET lids. ECE and DOT.

100% Carbon. Very comfy padding and all trimmed in glove leather. - Was surprised that despite COVID I was allowed to try it on.
The shop girlie is trying to get an M for me to try. Tried an L but it was a bit borderline.
Sure! - you need goggles. And totally a summer lid. There is an all matte carbon version too.

Also Carbon - Problem is that it's only available direct from mfr in the UK. ECE&DOT

Waiting on some replies from them regarding weights etc - depends on size.

I wanted to wait and see what ECE 22.06 does to designs etc - But I really need a new "Short Trip" lid.

This is my current long haul lid. Comfy, but just cumbersome to carry about when stopped.

It was and end of range lid - Huge discount. Just a bit warm for summer here. Otherwise excellent.

And thanks to Mrs B. and her kitchen scales - My current lid weighs a whopping 1760g - the lid due for chucking away 1600g.

Ruroc says theirs weighs 1375g (+/- 50g) including goggles etc. I wonder how much goggles weigh?

Finally plumped for the LS2. It is lighter than a very light thing. Found some goggles that add another 21grams to the ensemble.

I have road tested the lid and it's excellent though for obvious reasons not THAT waterproof. And as it's rained pretty much every day since the goggles arrived
      - This is how am am rain testing - Brmm brmm

In a couple of years when the Nexx comes up for replacement I may well go for the Ruroc. The killer for me this time was it does not have photo-chromatic lenses in the goggles. I don't have a problem swapping lenses for day and night - but tunnels is another matter. They say they have the lenses in development.

          Mellow greetings Gray beard.
Me thinks goggles are best for the dirt track, not for road use. They are a PITA on an all day road ride.

For long trips I'd still use the Nexx (or whatever comes after) - but in summer here (esp town) it's akin to having your head in an oven - Even with vents open (fan oven). The LS2 is a short trip/town traffic lid for me.

I rode years in the UK with Goggles and did iron butt cross Europe runs with just sunglasses or goggles.

            Tally ho!
