    Warped Rear Brake Rotor

So my rear brake rotor is wobbling pretty good now with 50K miles on it. Triumph wants $337 for an OEM rotor. OUCH !

Looking for a NOS or a great shape used one. Ebay has some used ones but they look terrible. Not worth taking a chance on them. Any of you guys have and extra TRUE rotor laying about ?

R U sure it is a wobbly rotor? I have purchased used ones without problems. 35$ or so. Make sure the caliper is not sticking.

      Bill,
I agree with Ricardo on this one.
A used rotor will most likely work just fine.
Thry ere cheap enough that if you do need more than one - no problema!

Took the Rocket out for a ride today. Before leaving I found an NOS Roadster rotor and sent the seller an offer. My rotor is somewhat wobbling making the caliper move in and out as it goes around. My buddy Jerry and I looked at it fairly well. It is moving in and out enough to see the caliper moving. After the ride I checked my email and the seller accepted my offer. Getting a new old stock rotor.

How might the rotor been bent? Did you drop the rim on the rotor side while changing the tyre?

I didn't drop it. But I did just have the shop I use for tire changes change the tire. I left it with them for the day. I wonder if they dropped it. They did tell me they had a newbie do it so he could have a shot at how hard Rocket rear tires are to change.

I measured the run out today. It was over 50 thousandths. Only 15 thousandths is allowed.

Huummmm? He might have leveraged a bar on the rotor and bent the thing. The CT are a bitch to remove/change, not the MC. Beware of the soft screws. Some call for replacing them once taken off. They locktite them at the factory. The heads strip ezzy. I changed mine for titanium.

Do you have a recommendation for removing the bolts so I don't get them stuck or broken ? The NOS rotor comes with new bolts.

I have had mine off many times for cleaning wheels with no problems.
I do use LocTite when replacing.
A large man with a decent length ratchet bar helps as well. :-]

Make sure you have the correct hex sitting well in the bolt. If they don't span open, try an impact drill. There are several well trained and experienced bolt busters here. I'm a headbolt stripper.

The NOS rotor I ordered arrived today. Putting it on was very easy. Just cracked the bolts loose while the bike was on the ground. Jacked up the bike and pulled the axle out about 4 inches. Moved the caliper out of the way and finished removing the bolts. They broke free and came out easy. Cleaned up the mounting areas and installed the NOS rotor with the new bolts supplied. Torqued to 22 NM. Pretty simple. The NOS rotor is a lot more straight.
