I really don't know the answer so I thought I would put it out there as I know you guys would never make fun of me for my lack of mechanical skills😋. I have the basics down but in this crowd that's dead last. So I have Shell 15W-50 drum full synthetic from the dealer in my Rocket at the oil change. Can I mix it with Shell 15W-50 synthetic 'base' to top it off if need be? How about the same grade but different manufacture such as Chevron or mobile as long as it's 15W-50 full synthetic. I feel like it's no on both questions. I can't find Shell full synthetic other than Amazon for like $14.00 for one quart with a $35.00 shipping fee. I can buy 5 quarts but the shipping fee once again is extremely high. Any info would be appreciated.👍

Why on earth are you "topping off" ??? Burning oil already?
Use an oil MEANT FOR motors, stay with full syn,
Many out there, I prefer Mobile 1 Racing 4T

I just want something here to top off as my Rocket does go through oil a tad faster than the 14 Rocket. So I can mix another brand as long as it's the same full synthetic 15W-50. Good to know and thanks. Not happy about the oil thing as I never worried about it for my 05 and 14 Rockets. Oh well, thanks again

Just make sure it is a motorcycle specific oil for wet clutch system - The Mobile 1 Racing T is really good, but I don't think you can get it in 15W-50

I did not know about burning oil between changes with the "new" Rockets.
I've never had to add oil between changes in either of my R3Rs (2011 & 2012) and I go 10K in between.

Yes there are a few negative things about the newer Rockets . On my 14 Rocket I didn't care for the weight and the muscle used to hit the twisties. I liked the 5 gears better than 6. The 2020 Rocket has these tiny 4"X2" pegs. I hit my boots in turns all the time and I only have a size 10. I'm on tip toes in the twisties. They made them tiny for a better lean angle. Different boots may be in store. Checking oil is a hassle and I haven't added any oil yet but within the next 1K I think I will need to top it off. Going through the steps to start the 2020 is a ridiculous. In a perfect world I would have kept my 14 Rocket and the 2020 but I don't ride enough anymore to justify that. Both are great machines and extremely quick.

I would love to ride but since you asked I've been sidelined for the last month due to a reoccurring condition. The wife and I had to cancel our Idaho trip starting Sunday. It's all good though I'll be fine but I'm on house restriction. I can't even go to the gym. Thanks for the invite as I know you guys will have a blast. Make sure you post so some of us can follow.
